Topical Minoxidil: Hair Growth Agent

Response to Minoxidil

Activity of minoxidil sulfotransferase in hair follicles predicts efficacy of topical minoxidil for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia.

There are researches on enzymic assay to evaluate the individual difference and clinical utility of minoxidil response testing.

Activity of minoxidil sulfotransferase was measured in each person using plucked hair follicles to predict the response to minoxidil for the treatment of female pattern hair loss and male pattern hair loss.

It means that we can predict the effectiveness of minoxidil before the treatment. The minoxidil response test will give us information about the individual difference in efficacy of minoxidil.

So, we can know if he is a responder or a non-responder to minoxidil before the treatment. It is an examination on individual constitution and it is enough only once in the lifetime.
