Topical Minoxidil: Hair Growth Agent

Responsiveness to Minoxidil

Initial Hair Loss & Number of Fallen Hair:

The key points are minoxidil shedding (initial hair loss) and a decreased number of fallen hair.

The first issue is initial hair loss (what is called minoxidil shedding or Rogaine shedding) within a month. If you are a responder to minoxidil, you will notice initial hair loss in 2-3 weeks.

Increased number of fallen hair during the initial 2-3 weeks indicates that you are highly likely a responder to minoxidil.

The second issue is a decreased number of fallen hair over the next 3-6 treatment months. If you continue hair loss treatment with minoxidil, you will notice much smaller number of fallen hair after shampooing after 3-6 months of treatment. It means that hair follicles have responded to minoxidil.

If you notice either one or both of these issues, you are highly likely a responder to minoxidil. Then, new and thicker hair will come out after the treatment with topical minoxidil for 3-6 months.
