Side Effects of Oral Minoxidil

Intake of oral minoxidil is not safe.

Some of the side effects are related renal sodium retention.
Activation of the adrenergic function results in tachycardia, increase in cardiac output, and increase in myocardial oxygen demand. These may trigger off angina pectoris and myocardial infarction in some patients.
Hypertrichosis on the face and extremities is prominently observed in about 70% of patients with oral minoxidil treatment.
Electrocardiographic changes are also commonly observed which include flat T wave and T wave inversion.
Regular examinations of electrocardiography, echocardiography, and chest X ray are required for the precise diagnosis of cardiac disorders.
Above mentioned cardiac diseases can only be detected when you get a close examination by a cardiologist.
