Minoxidil solution works on the scalp where it is applied to. However, minoxidil solution works in other areas, too.
It doesn’t matter if you apply minoxidil solution only to the vertex area or the frontal area. Even if you apply minoxidil solution only to some area, it will also work in other areas.
Please remember that body hair thickening is one of side effects of topical minoxidil. You apply minoxidil solution only to the scalp and not to the body.
Minoxidil is absorbed from the scalp, and enters blood circulation. It is distributed to the body. Minoxidil in the blood works on body hair follicles and makes body hair thick.
Therefore, minoxidil solution applied to some scalp area will work in the other scalp areas, too.
If you apply minoxidil solution to the vertex area, it will also work in the frontal area. If you apply minoxidil solution to the frontal area, it will also work in the vertex area.
