Minoxidil; Frequent Questions and Answers-1

Q 4.
Responder or Non-responder to Minoxidil?

How can someone know if he is a responder or a non-responder to minoxidil?

A 4.

There is a test to measure responsiveness to minoxidil in a laboratory. However, the test is not commercially available yet.

There is an easy way to know if someone is a responder to minoxidil.

First, you continue to use topical minoxidil for more than 4-6 months. Then, you can check the number of fallen hair in the drain in the bathroom after shampoo.

If the number of fallen hair has decreased after several months of the treatment with minoxidil, you are probably a responder to minoxidil. As the number of fallen hair decreases, the number of scalp hair will increase accordingly.

If the number of hair shedding doesn’t decrease after six months of minoxidil treatment, you are probably a non-responder to minoxidil.
