Minoxidil; Frequent Questions and Answers-1

Q 17.
When Can We Change a Hair Growth Agent from One to Another?

There is always an individual difference in the effectiveness of hair growth medicine.

Some people want to compare the effects of different hair growth agents, and they sometimes change hair growth medicine every a few months.

How long should we continue to use the same hair growth medicine before changing it to another one?
When will be the appropriate time to evaluate the effect of a hair growth drug?

A 17.

If you change hair growth medicine so often, you will not be able to know which one is the most effective drug for you. Effects of a hair growth drug cannot be evaluated in a few months because hair grows slowly.

Even if hair becomes thick, the change of hair thickness will not be noticeable until hair grows long enough after four months. So, you had better keep using the same hair growth medicine at least for 4-6 months.

After 4-6 months, you can change it to another type of medicine, if you are not satisfied with the results.
The duration of trial usage of the next hair growth agent should also be more than 4-6 months.
