Q 12.
Does the Number of Fallen Hair Increase in Spring and Autumn?

Many animals change body hair in spring and autumn.
Is there a difference in human hair thickness in synchronization with a seasonal change?

A 12.

This is one of the major differences between animals and humans.

Body hair in many animals falls off simultaneously in spring and autumn. Animals need different body hair for hot summer and cold winter.

However, human hair cycles are not influenced by seasonal changes. Most of human hair doesn’t fall out in synchronization with seasonal changes.

The number of fallen hair in human is almost constant throughout the year. This is the reason why density of human hair looks stable.

Change of hair thickness is unnoticeable in most of people.
However, there is slight increase in the number of fallen hair in spring and autumn in human, strictly speaking.

There is a rare exceptional case, though. One of my patients told me that he has been experiencing synchronous hair shedding every 10 months.
There are some other people, who suffer from increase in the number of fallen hair and thinning of hair in autumn every year.
