There are some people, who pluck hair repeatedly to resolve mental stress. This is a psychological disease called trichotillomania. This disease develops mostly in young girls in adolescence.
The total number of hair cycles and hair regrowth is limited in the lifetime. As the results of excessively repeated hair plucking, the number of total hair cycles has been exhausted in such patients with trichotillomania. Thick hair does not come out anymore.
Finally, thick hair doesn’t grow, and only fine hair comes out. The patient suffers from hair loss in wide areas with only sparsely grown fine hair.
Such patients had misunderstood that hair would regrow forever, even if they continued to pluck hair. However, it was not true.
They have lost the possibility of lifetime hair regrowth even in young age.
Only hair transplantation is the final resolution of treatment for patients with trichotillomania.
However, not only hair in the frontal and side areas but also hair in the occipital area have usually been lost. Most of the donor hair has been exhausted.
Depletion of donor hair is a serious problem on hair transplantation in patients with trichotillomania.
