Minoxidil; Frequent Questions and Answers-2

Q 2-26.
How to Avoid Contact Dermatitis Caused by Minoxidil Solution?

A 2-26.

Higher concentration minoxidil solution is more effective for the purpose of hair thickening, but it poses increased risk of inflammation and contact dermatitis on the scalp.

It will be better to dilute the concentration of minoxidil solution with water on the palm, and apply it to the scalp.

It may also be better to apply high concentration minoxidil solution to the scalp while the skin is still wet after a shampoo. It will be helpful to dilute the concentration of the solution with water remaining on the scalp.

Furthermore, it will be better to keep the scalp wet for a while after application of the solution to secure absorption time of watered minoxidil.

A minoxidil solution diluted with water and slow absorption time may reduce the risk of inflammation on the scalp. Small differences in concentration will make considerable differences according to the author’s opinion.

It is also a good idea to change minoxidil solution to minoxidil foam or non-PG minoxidil solution, which doesn’t contain propylene glycol and alcohol in the solvent.
