5alpha-Reductase Inhibitor

Aromatase inhibitors will increase the level of DHT in the hair follicles in women treated with aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer.

An increase in DHT can cause hair thinning in women with a genetic predisposition to thinning of hair by AGA.

To prevent hair loss, it is necessary to reduce the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

As 5 alpha-reductase (5α-reductase) inhibitors reduce DHT, the use of a 5α-reductase inhibitors may improve thinning of hair in women treated with aromatase inhibitors for breast cancer.

Hair Regrowth Medicine
Finasteride & Minoxidil

Finasteride and minoxidil are recommended as standard treatments for male AGA.

Both drugs thicken the hair, but the mechanism of actions is different between them.

Finasteride is a type II 5α-reductase inhibitor that reduces DHT.

Minoxidil is an anagen inducer that prolongs the anagen phase.

The combined use of finasteride and minoxidil has a synergistic effect in the treatment of AGA.

People who respond well to drugs are called responders to them.

The ratio of responders to finasteride or minoxidil is approximately 40% of the population respectively according to the author’s experiences.
